Golden Star Ferries’ shipowners, George and Dimitris Stefanou, are two self-made entrepreneurs with intense personalities and a strong point of view. A great amount of preliminary design work was necessary to decide on the design direction that would transform the Japanese Kogane Maru ferry, to Superferry that would travel to and from the islands of the Aegean Sea.
The main idea was to incorporate elements of the Greek islands she visits, to the ferry’s interior. We designed a wooden pergola ceiling for “Mykonos Lounge”, among bougainvilleas and windmills. For “Tinos Lounge” we were inspired by the island’s characteristic pigeon house patterns, with references to the local marble craftsmen. “Andros Lounge”, is dedicated to our clients’ island of origin.
