We were introduced to norwegian company Hurtigruten Cruises by Leadship, the naval engineering and consulting group. The project was the renovation of M/S Fram, an ice-class expedition cruise ship that travels in polar regions.
We were asked to redesign the public areas, as well as all categories of cabins. Τhe cabins had to be especially comfortable because of the long duration of the cruises. They should also have a lot of storage space for the personal items of guests, as well as the specialized equipment that the company provides to them for their expeditions.
Moreover, we were asked to design seminar areas for the expeditions and a laboratory, where the passengers/explorers could bring and study their findings from their expeditions. Τhe interior layouts were arranged so that they could take the most advantage of the beautiful polar landscape views.
